The purpose of this contest is to help JRA members build a résumé and improve their interviewing skills. Job preparation and interviewing skills are important life skills and through participation in this contest, junior members can learn organizational skills, communication skills, and networking skills.

Livestock Operational Sales Talk

The purpose of this contest is to give a glimpse of real-life situations of selling and promoting and the importance of communication skills, marketing techniques, and an understanding of the Red Angus breed and the agriculture industry.

The purpose of this contest is to encourage team participation and communication while preparing an animal for the show ring.

The purpose of this contest is to educate juniors throughout the week and then test their overall knowledge of Red Angus and the beef industry.

Showmanship

The purpose of this contest is to evaluate juniors on their ability to work with their animals, show them, and present themselves in a professional manner in the show ring.

State Herdsmanship Contest

The purpose of this contest is to encourage unity, togetherness, and teamwork among state juniors in developing and maintaining a display of cattle and stall areas. It also promotes pride and enthusiasm for the state junior organization and rewards those organizations that achieve this purpose.
