The Junior Red Angus Association is proud to announce the launch of our Queen and Princess Program, celebrating leadership, advocacy, and a passion for the Red Angus breed. These young women will serve as ambassadors for JRA, promoting the values of integrity, stewardship, and service within the beef industry.
The JRA Queen and Princess will represent our organization at events across the country—sharing their stories, supporting fellow juniors, and helping to grow awareness of the Red Angus breed. Through this program, we aim to elevate youth leadership and provide meaningful opportunities for personal and professional development.
Stay tuned as we crown our inaugural royalty at the 2025 Red Angus Youth Expo and begin a new chapter of connection, representation, and pride within the Junior Red Angus family.
Candidate Requirements
Queen Eligibility Requirements
• Applicant must be a dues-paid member of the Junior Red Angus Association.
• Applicant must be between the ages of 16 and 21 at the application deadline.
• Applicant must show an active interest in raising and promoting the Red Angus breed.
• Must be present for the opening day of the Red Angus Youth Expo through the conclusion of the show.
• Second terms are allowed only when no other qualified individuals apply.
• Applicants must also assist JRA board of directors and show staff throughout the week of Expo.
Application Requirements
• Complete this application form by May 16, 2025.
• Upload two reference letters at the bottom of this application (Ex: Advisor, Teacher, Breeder, Church Leader). Reference letters should not be from a family member.
Selection Process:
•Judge(s) will evaluate the candidate(s) through an interview on Sunday evening at start of Expo.
Judging questions include but is not limited to the following:
• What are your goals as the Junior Red Angus Queen?
• What is your involvement within your state JRA Association or the national JRA Association?
• General knowledge of the Red Angus breed and beef industry.
Selection is based on –
• 30% based on application
• 70% based on interview
Responsibilities
•Attend the National Open Show (Cattlemen’s Congress and Red Angus Convention each fall.
• Submit articles to the Red Angus Magazine or JRA newsletter as requested.
• Appear in official dress at shows and industry functions when representing the breed. **Official dress is black pants or dark jeans with a white button-up shirt, jacket, boots, belt, sash, and tiara. **
Awards
• All participants will be recognized at the Red Angus Youth Expo Awards Ceremony.
• Tiara and sash will be provided.
• Travel reimbursement to approved events and shows.
Princess Eligibility Requirements
• Applicant must be a dues-paid member of the Junior Red Angus Association.
• Applicant must be between the ages of 13 and 15, at application deadline.
• Applicant must show an active interest in raising and promoting the Red Angus breed.
Application Requirements
• Complete this application form by May 16, 2025.

Selection Process:
• Junior princesses will be selected at the Red Angus Youth Expo. The JRA Board of Directors will act as the selection committee and will conduct an interview on Sunday, June 8th, 2025. Princesses will be selected at the Red Angus Youth Expo Awards Ceremony.
Responsibilities
• Assist the National Red Angus Queen and JRA Board of Directors during the Red Angus Youth Expo and National Red Angus Shows.
• Fill in for the queen when needed (attend shows and breed functions with the queen when possible).
• Appear in official dress at shows and industry functions when presenting the breed awards. **Official dress is dark pants or dark jeans with a white button-up shirt, jacket, boots, belt, sash, and tiara. **
